You can download it from Google Play.

DrinkAdvisor App

The app’s name; ‘Drink Advisor’ I felt was a little misleading. I initially thought it was going to be an application which gives you a more detailed overview of alcohol content or advise against misuse. However, this is actually the kind of app that facilitates epic nights out for you and your friends.

The app first lets you register through either Twitter, Facebook or Google+. Using this log in you can later perform more tasks- like inviting friends, posting reviews, check-ins and posting photos. The app provides a great platform for lots of users to provide their feedback but I would point out that, currently, there is not much in the way of activity. That said, with more users I’m sure this will improve.

Once registered (or skipped) you see a dashboard interface where you can choose from Bars, Drinks, Cocktails, Reviews, My Places, Meetings, Activity, Friends and Profile. Many of these obviously rely on log in but you can browse bars and explore different drink and cocktail types quickly and easily.

When searching for bars, you can initially filter by city and, from Aberdeen to Zurich, there are plenty of big international cities to choose from. There are around 120 to choose from but I sincerely hope this grows as it is still very limited unless you live in or around those locations. Once you have selected a city, you can browse various bars and other venues, checking out their ratings, visit information and opening times. Additionally you can add feedback to the venue; likes, reviews, photos and check-ins. You can even view a map so you can find out how to get there.

Drink info

The app is very social and the ability to invite friends will be very useful for organizing nights out. As with any social forum, the more users that engage the better. At the time of writing it is a little quiet, but this is clearly a new app that just needs more time to grow.

Depending on your social life (how often you go out) will then reflect how often you use the app but it’s certainly stable and simple to use. The interface is quite cool too- certainly very user friendly and simple to find your way around. All in all it is a useful and neatly presented application that lets you craft excellent nights out, all around the world.

One downside is that this app is only available for Android devices.

If you are a social butterfly that could use some help and information about going out; from cities, bars and restaurants to what to drink when you get there, this is a handy resource to have access to. The app is completely free so be sure to check it out and see if it’s something that can help you.
